This privacy policy identifies the ways we collect, use and protect personally identifiable information as well as your options for accessing and correcting that information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing/promotional purposes.

What personally identifiable information does Bird Alliance of Oregon collect?
In various places on our web site, we gather email addresses and other basic contact information for the purpose of allowing people to subscribe to Bird Alliance of Oregon publications or RSVP for events. We also gather contact information from individuals who choose to donate to us via our web site in order to process their donations, acknowledge them in a timely manner and keep donors informed about the impact of our work.

Our web site may set “cookies” for the purpose of collecting aggregate statistics about the total number of visitors to our web site. We do not store any personally identifiable information in cookies.

Some of our online publications use coded hyperlinks to identify and track personally identifiable information about individuals’ interactions with our website.  

How does Bird Alliance of Oregon use personally identifiable information?
Bird Alliance of Oregon partners with third-party service providers to host our web site and other online publications. Third-party service providers are not permitted to use or share any personally identifiable information that we provide to them. Bird Alliance of Oregon does not share any of the personally identifiable information we collect with other outside parties, unless we have received your specific permission to do so.

Bird Alliance of Oregon uses personally identifiable records of people’s interactions with our online publications as a means for better understanding their interest in our work. At some point in time, this information may be used to personalize the publications and other information individuals receive from Bird Alliance of Oregon.

Like most website operators, our web servers create log files. These track data on Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to enable us to administer the site, analyze trends, track user movement in the aggregate and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Server log files do not contain personally identifiable information.

How does Portland Aububon protect personally identifiable information?
Bird Alliance of Oregon takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the web site, their information is protected both online and offline.

When we transfer and receive certain types of sensitive information, such as financial information, we redirect visitors to a secure outside vendor’s server (currently Acceptiva). To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to protect the information we collect online.

All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. All of our databases are password-protected to ensure that unauthorized users cannot access sensitive data.

What choices do I have in interacting with Bird Alliance of Oregon?
You can opt out of receiving communications from us. You may request access to personally identifiable information we collect about you through our electronic communications and you may request corrections to that information. Commenting Policy – Bird Alliance of Oregon Facebook Page

The purpose of the Bird Alliance of Oregon’s Facebook fan page is to further our mission to ‘promote the understanding, enjoyment, and protection of native birds, other wildlife, and their habitats’ and to interact with Bird Alliance of Oregon’s many supporters.

You are encouraged to post your questions, comments and concerns, but please note this is a moderated online discussion site and is not a public forum. Once posted, the Bird Alliance of Oregon reserves the right to delete submissions that contain vulgar language, personal attacks of any kind, or offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, sexual or religious group. The Bird Alliance of Oregon also reserves the right to delete comments that are: spam or include links to other sites; off topic; advocate illegal activity; promote particular services, products, or political organizations or campaigns; contain personal attacks; contain confidential or proprietary information; raise privacy concerns; identify a minor; or infringe on copyrights or trademarks.
