CANCELLED – Bird Alliance of Oregon Birding Day: Bird Song of the Coast Range
This is a self-driving day trip, and the meeting location is approximately forty minutes from Portland. Bring lunch and dress for the weather. Meet at 6 a.m. in Banks in the parking lot of Jim’s Thriftway (12350 NW Main St, Banks, OR 97106) at 45.6103, -123.1137.
The singing birds of the Coast Range have returned, and bird song will be abuzz. We will be looking for Hermit and MacGillivray’s Warbler, Northern Pygmy-Owl, Hammond’s Flycatcher, and many more. Hooting grouse are still possible, and usually Evening Grosbeak are abundant at this time of the year. We will work the forest roads west of the town of Timber, including elevations between about 1000 and 2500 ft.
Rest stops: There is only one restroom, Reeher Camp.
