Bird Alliance of Oregon Birding Day: Columbia County Bottomlands with Brodie Cass Talbott *1 spot left*
Columbia County still possesses some of the marshy bottomlands that have been developed in neighboring Multnomah County, providing fun winter birding opportunities.
Join Brodie as we explore the Crown Zellerbach Trail, enjoying the many species that winter in this area, including Sandhill Cranes, abundant waterfowl, raptors, and sparrows. We’ll continue further downriver to St. Helens, where we’ll visit a patchwork of habitats along the Columbia River, looking for gulls, loons, Black Phoebe, and White-breasted Nuthatch.
This day trip will involve up to 4 miles of walking on mostly flat terrain.
Meeting location will be emailed to you by your leader several days before the field trip.
Rest Stops: We will have rest stops between walks – our second area will be about 20 minutes by car from the first
Sun Exposure: Partial
Amenities (bathrooms and parking): Portapotties will be available at the first stop, gas stations will be available along the drive
Public transit: None
Accessibility
Distance: At least two walks of up to two miles each, up to four miles total
