Bird Alliance of Oregon Birding Day: Timberline and Lolo Pass *FULL*
*Due to strong winds and fallen trees, Mt. Hood National Forest south of Hwy 26 will remain closed through early October, this trip has been modified.
We will explore Timberline Lodge and do some birding on Lolo Pass Road. Timberline can be very good this time of year for migrating raptors, even a possibilty of Golden Eagle and Prairie Falcon. Migrating songbirds such as Horned Lark, American Pipits and a variety of finches, warblers and sparrows, and of course more resident or altitudinal migrants such as Mountain Bluebird and Clark’s Nutcracker can all be seen!
Lolo Pass has a nice mix of riparian, deciduous and coniferous woodlands that we can make various stops at to look for finches, sparrows, woodpeckers etc. Maybe even a grouse!
