Birds in Flight Photography

Mastering the art of photographing birds in flight can be daunting, but there are a few tricks that can help position you for success. In this webinar, host Brian Magnier will cover a range of tips on perfecting this difficult branch of wildlife photography, from bird behavior and camera gear options to technical settings and framing. While anyone with an interest in wildlife photography can enjoy this class, some of the information will be applicable mainly to photographers who have fully manual-capable cameras, such as dSLRs.

We’ll discuss recommended camera equipment, specific technical camera settings (and the reasoning behind these choices), framing and creative options, and a bit about bird behavior. We’ll learn about how to freeze motion with a fast shutter speed, and also how to accentuate motion and create pleasing motion-blurred images with slower shutter speeds.

*This program is geared towards people who are already familiar with photography, though I will review some of the fundamentals, so people of all skill levels should be able to learn and enjoy. Some information will be specifically focused on settings and tips for cameras that are fully manual-capable, but most sections (covering fundamentals, lighting, framing, and bird behavior) are applicable to photographers with any gear or skill level.
