Intermediate Birding by Ear: Wetlands with Brodie Cass Talbott
In this virtual class, we’ll focus on wetland bird vocalizations, building upon skills and techniques covered in the Beginning Birding by Ear series. These intermediate classes are the perfect way to sharpen your birding by ear skills! Please register separately for each class.
With the highest density and diversity of birds of any of our habitats, as well as thick vegetation making visibility challenging at times, wetlands can present us with a confounding array of sounds. In this class, we’ll demystify these enigmatic sounds with an exploration into our most common wetland birds, with descriptions of the birds as well as recordings of the sounds they make. Helpful memory devices and a quiz will help us retain this information and take it out into the field!
Enroll separately in the companion Bird Alliance of Oregon Birding Day to this class, where you’ll practice your birding by ear in the field at Ankeny and Baskett Slough National Wildife Refuge. April 22, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Space is limited on this Bird Alliance of Oregon Birding Day to 10 participants.
