Distance Learning: Birding by Ear Series with Brodie Cass Talbott
This three-part series takes you through birdsong from start to finish: from how birds vocalize and what those vocalizations mean, to how you can learn to identify the birds around you by the sounds they make. Lectures will run for 50 minutes with a short question and answer to follow.
Birdsong Basics Why and how are birds so uniquely vocal? What do their many different sounds mean? In this introduction we will explore the fascinating world of bird vocalizations.

Birding by Ear Learning to understand bird vocalizations, and identify birds by the sounds they make, is akin to learning a new language. In this section we will examine the various methods and techniques used to decipher birdsong.
