Let’s Hear it for the Girls: Demystifying Female Birds

Join longtime educator and birder Laura Whittemore to study female birds on their own terms, not in comparison to male representatives of the species. We’ll take a look at finches, grosbeaks, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, ducks, hawks, and maybe a few surprises. This class will especially help newer birders train their eye to truly “see” birds.

Laura Whittemore

Laura Whittemore spent her formative birding decades in the Pacific Northwest, learning from mentors, exploring the region’s varied habitats and birdlife, and eventually leading Birdathon teams and teaching countless classes for Bird Alliance of Oregon. She now resides in southern Wisconsin and is getting to know the flow of birdlife in a new region. Her goal in teaching is to instill confidence in newer birders and inspire them to explore the amazing habitats of the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
