Junior Birder: Bird Migration Basics
Join Abby VanLeuven every Tuesday afternoon in October to discover all of the birds in our Nature Sanctuary! Purchase a Bird Feeder Starter Pack (two discounted options available from the Nature Store) so you can study the birds that will stop by for a snack at your home. During weekly in-person meetings, we will learn how to identify our feathered friends, learn about what types of food attract different birds, and how to keep track and learn about the birds around you. We’ll share our findings as a group, ask questions and engage in different activities that will deepen your appreciation for birds, create crafts for the birds, and explore the Nature Sanctuary!
Bird Migration Basics: As migration is fully underway, learn about why birds migrate, how they migrate, the birds you should be on the lookout for, the challenges they face and how you can help!
*We ask that all Junior Birders have a feeder and field guide for class! Luckily, the Nature Store is sharing a special deal for our Junior Birders on Bird Feeder Starter Kits! There are two options available and we ask that all participants have items listed in the Basic Feeder Kit.
The Basic Feeder Kit contains a bird feeder, 4 lbs of seed and a copy of Birds of the Willamette Valley, by Harry Nehls. This pack is available at a reduced price of $30 (Regularly $40).
