Join Bird Alliance of Oregon on a five-day tour to Malheur National Wildlife Refuge located in remote and beautiful southeastern Oregon. Malheur National Wildlife Refuge is a world-class birder’s paradise. A variety of habitats, including extensive marshes, sagebrush flats, riparian thickets, and rimrock support a diversity of wildlife. Field birding and natural history are the focus of this exciting five-day program.

RegisterWe’ll search for Golden Eagles, Black-necked Stilts, White-faced Ibis, Burrowing Owl, Sandhill Cranes, and Prairie Falcons as well as mammals such as Pronghorn, Coyote and Mule Deeramong the wealth of wildlife.
Our program is timed to coincide with peak bird migration and species diversity. Explore the vast refuge and surrounding areas, including the east side of Steens Mountain and the Alvord Desert, on daily field excursions led by experienced naturalists from Bird Alliance of Oregon. Be prepared for some wondrous sights, chilly nights and lots of birds. The elevation is about 4000 feet, and the snow-capped Steens Mountain looms on our horizon the entire time.

What is included: All ground transportation from Portland. Four nights lodging based on double-occupancy, all your meals except dinners, the services of your experienced Bird Alliance of Oregon leaders.
Important info about lodging:
The trip fee is based on double-occupancy. The rooms at the Frenchglen Hotel have just one double bed. If you do not want to share a bed you will need to request a single supplement. There is a single-supplement fee of $200 if you are the sole occupant of the room. Also, bathrooms are located outside of the rooms.
