Nature Night: Fighting for Forest Park
Virtual
Join Bird Alliance of Oregon Conservation staff and special guests for a program focused on Forest Park, and a project proposal that puts the park at risk. Forest Park is one of Portland’s most beloved spaces, providing refuge to both wildlife and people. But this November a PGE proposal to expand their infrastructure is putting a parcel of Forest Park at risk of development. In this program, we’ll dive into what the project entails, what’s at stake, and how you can take action. Photographer Scott Carpenter will show his awe-inspiring photographs of the park’s wildlife, and author Marcy Cottrell Houle will share her deep knowledge of the park’s past and present. Then Conservation staff, and partners like Forest Park Conservancy will share their position on the project and wrap up with a brief training on how you can best advocate to protect Forest Park.

About Scott Carpenter
Scott began birding as a young child in Texas in the 1970’s, introduced to the hobby by his father who began birding in the 1940’s. After many years in the midwest, Scott and his family moved to Portland in 2004, and he has been exploring the Pacific Northwest ever since. He can often be found wandering the trails of Forest Park in Portland, searching for the various owl species and other birds that take refuge in the amazing habitat Forest Park offers.
