Camp begins SUNDAY, July 10 at 7:30 a.m. and returns FRIDAY, July 15 at 5:30 p.m.
Experience the awesome beauty of the islands! Travel by ferry into the Puget Sound and straight into some of the most incredible, awe-inspiring scenery in the entire United States!
Spend the week exploring the islands’ unique natural history and rich biodiversity as you search for species large and small. We’ll keep a lookout for the pods of Orcas that hunt for salmon in the Salish Sea. We’ll seek out the elusive River Otters that have adapted to a marine life, and we’ll bird to our hearts’ content, keeping an ever-vigilant eye for the Bald Eagles that inhabit the islands.
During this action-packed week, you’ll learn how to sea kayak as you explore tidal areas in these unique watercraft. We’ll hike the beautiful forests, swim in its pristine mountain lakes, tidepool and watch incredible sunsets. You’ll also get to visit the Whale Museum in Friday Harbor and head out to sea on a whale-watching cruise to learn even more about the fascinating whales and other marine mammals.
All transportation and meals are provided. Participants supply their own camping gear.
Week-long Camp: SUNDAY, JULY 10 – FRIDAY, JULY 15, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Grades: High School
Drop off Location: High School grades meet at Upper Macleay Park, which neighbors Bird Alliance of Oregon on Cornell Road to the east.
Type of Camp: Expeditions travel with Bird Alliance of Oregon for 6 days across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Summer campers will sleep in yurts or camp in tents.
