Identifying Shorebirds
Shorebird migration is one of nature’s greatest spectacles, with some species traveling from nesting grounds in the Arctic to far reaches of the Southern Hemisphere.
In Oregon, the southbound migration peaks in late summer, so this is a great time to see the biggest variety of species. Since many species show similar color patterns, identifying shorebirds can be a challenge. This class will show you how to identify birds by size, shape, color patterns, choice of habitat, and behavior. Once you know what to look for, you will be identifying shorebirds like a pro.
Enroll separately in the companion Birding Day to this class, where you’ll practice your shorebird identification on the Oregon Coast.
