Thundereggs: A Look at Oregon’s State Rock

In this webinar, we will take an in-depth look at Oregon’s state rock, the thunderegg.

Intriguing and beautiful wonders of geology, thundereggs require very specific geologic conditions to form, and are thus relatively rare. On a global scale, Oregon is one of the best places to find thundereggs, with numerous places where eager rockhounds can find and collect their own. But why is Oregon such a hotspot for them? How do they form? Are they different than geodes or agates? And most importantly, where can we go to find some? We will discuss all of these questions and more, with naturalist Brian Magnier.

Take a deep dive into the world of thundereggs!

In this webinar, we will take an in-depth look at Oregon’s state rock, the thunderegg, investigating how they form, why Oregon is such a hotspot and more!
