Field Trip: Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge
Located just southwest of Portland, the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge’s extensive wetlands, grasslands, and forest attract a great variety of bird species. Join us as we explore the refuge for both spring migrants and nesting birds. We should find plenty of shorebirds and waterfowl, five species of swallows, Lazuli Buntings, Common Yellowthroat, warblers, and flycatchers.
Explore one of the nation's only urban wildlife refuges!
May is the best time to visit this iconic National Wildlife Refuge, as the trails open, and large numbers of waterfowl, shorebirds, and songbirds migrate through.
