March 1 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Words about Birds Poetry Workshop
Come observe birds and play with words at the Bird Alliance of Oregon Sanctuary! In this creative birding workshop, we’ll practice observing birds and crafting poetry from our experiences. Together, we’ll write, draw, and learn about nature and the winter birds around us.
We’ll start by gathering inspiration outside on a short walk in our Forest Park Sanctuary. After we’ve spent some time observing our feathered friends (with a special focus on winter forest birds), we’ll head inside to learn more about a few of these winter birds. Finally, we’ll loosen up with some writing exercises and collaboration to express our experience. In the spirit of learning, we’ll keep it light and fun as we work with words to describe the birds we love!
No poetry or birding experience needed. Total beginners welcome and encouraged.
Snacks and hot tea provided. Please bring the following supplies:
- Journal
- Pen/pencil
- Colored pencils or drawing materials
- Water bottle
Please be mindful that space is limited and sliding scale programs fill up quickly. We ask that if you need to cancel, you give us at least one week notice so we can try to fill your spot. 1 registration allowed per person.
