Field Trip: Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area
Come bird with us, as we explore the 2,000-acre tidal freshwater wetland, a true Portland-area gem, and the surrounding mature cottonwood forest in search of various migrant songbirds, shorebirds, and resident waterbirds.
*Please remember to bring binoculars, appropriate layered clothing, and any drinks and desired snacks.
Public Transit: Tri-met Bus #11 stops .25 miles from the parking lot.
Rest stops: none
Sun exposure: Most of the walk is treed and heavily shaded, the end of the walk when viewing lakes is full sun.
Amenities (bathrooms and parking): ADA-accessible restroom in the parking lot, which has ample parking

Elevation changes: flat
Trail: wide paved and hard dirt trails, plus a short section of grated boardwalk
Pacing: Slow, with frequent stops to view and listen for birds.
