Join local artist, Jennifer Mercede for an exciting and colorful art class! We’ll look at pictures of your favorite bird and turn them into art! Free up! Let go of your drawing looking perfect and create colorful bird paintings that are playful and unique.

Join us for this fun workshop, accessible to artists of all abilities!

*Please note that there is an additional $15 materials fee for a wood panel that will be paid with cash or via Jennifer’s Venmo that day of class.

Join Jennifer Mercede for a fun afternoon of freeing up your creativity to turn your favorite bird into art!

In-Person Class Details

Fee: $75 members / $90 non-members per session (*Please note that there is an additional $15 materials fee for a wood panel that will be paid with cash or via Jennifer’s Venmo that day of class.)
Where: This class will be held at Bird Alliance of Oregon, 5151 NW Cornell Road, Portland, OR 97210 unless otherwise noted.
When: Sunday, May 19, 2024, 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Supply List: Please bring supplies in a pack you can carry easily. You can also visit here for supply list suggestions from Jennifer.
Bring lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.
Classes are limited to 12 participants.
Youth ages 12 and up are welcome to join so long as they are accompanied by a parent/guardian who is also taking the class.

Meet the Instructor

Jennifer Mercede

Originally from the East Coast, and now living in Portland, OR, Jennifer Mercede’s imperfect abstract, animal and floral paintings consist of free flow text, bright colors, and funky doodling. She is inspired by vibrant color combinations, children’s art, graffiti and abstract expressionism. Her process is spontaneous and expressive. To quote Mercede, “I paint fast. I doodle. I paint stream of consciously. For me there is no such thing as a mistake in art!"

Jennifer has collaborated with companies such as Keen shoes and taught in fun places like her residency in Hong Kong. She loves drawing and painting all kinds of creatures including birds.
