Watercolor Painting with Ronna: The Sandhill Crane

Birds are an excellent source of inspiration and a joy to paint in watercolor. Bring your sweetie, or paint a Sandhill Crane Valentine for your sweetie alongside Ronna Fujisawa, an experienced watercolor painter, art educator, and bird enthusiast. 

Let’s celebrate Valentine’s Day by painting these magnificent birds who mate for life! This class will focus on the Sandhill Crane, as we observe this elegant bird in a courtship dance. We will be be painting the Sandhill Crane in watercolor as they flaunt their exquisite dance moves. Through painting this portrait, we will pay mindful attention to the various gray plumage, often stained my rusty oxides in the water, a red head and bright yellow eyes. Students will do several studies of the Sandhill Crane to learn basic watercolor techniques and understand the details of this exquisite bird!

Seeing the Sandhill Crane in a wet grassy meadow or shallow marshland can bring feelings of inspiration to paint such a magnificent and exuberant creature.
