Field Trip: Why Birds? Beginning Explorations with Erin
Why do you love birds?
How have birds changed your life? Or perhaps they haven’t. Yet! Maybe you are new to bringing birds into your awareness. All are welcome on this beginning exploration of birds!
Erin spent a lot of her childhood watching birds at their feeders, noticing the local Cooper’s Hawk chasing after these same birds, and waiting for that unexpected bird with lots of patience. Birds delight her and opened her awareness to her role in nature and how she wanted to spend her days here.
Join Erin to explore these topics and enjoy a morning with the birds together. We will also (of course!) use all of our senses to find and identify our avian friends around us. We will bird together at Wapato Access Greenway State Park along Virginia Lake on the western edge of Sauvie Island. This park contains rare oak savannah and an extensive wetland around Virginia Lake. The riparian deciduous woods at Wapato Access often contain Osprey, Hutton’s and Warbling Vireo, Orange-crowned Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, and much more!
Every level of experience and inexperience is more than welcome and celebrated on this morning program.
Meet at the Wapato Access Trailhead. No parking permit is required.
Please note that there are no restrooms at this location.
