Bird Song Walks
Thanks for a great Bird Song Walk Season!
If you joined us for a Bird Song Walk or Outing in 2024, please share your thoughts in this brief survey.
Bird songs signal the coming of spring. Their sounds are ones of hopefulness, wonder, and curiosity. For decades, Bird Alliance of Oregon has marked the spring season with weekly Bird Song Outings.
Join us for birding in community on these free, guided outings through the Portland Metro area’s songbird habitats. Every location will have a weekly repeating walk to highlight the progression of spring migration. Each week we will become familiar with the sights and sounds of our resident birds, winter stragglers, and some early migrants. As spring progresses, more migrant birds will come to greet us with their new and unfamiliar sounds. Birders will develop the skills and wonder of birding by ear week by week.
Bird Song Outings Details
- Please click the green links above each walk to find out accessibility details, meeting location, and what birds we’ll be listening for at each location.
- Please be mindful of walks that are capped when making multiple reservations. We want to give everyone the opportunity to experience bird song in each location! We love your enthusiasm, but it is best to only RSVP for one or a few Bird Song Outings at a time.
- Bird Song Outings are free and led by local Bird Alliance of Oregon birders. All levels of birders are welcome at any of the listed sites. RSVP below!
Most Bird Song Walks begin at 7 a.m. and end at 9 a.m. Need to leave early? No problem! Bird Song Walks are casual and you can leave whenever you need to. Keep in mind you will have to navigate back without a leader.
What to Bring & How to RSVP
Be sure to dress properly for the weather. Spring mornings can be surprisingly chilly and wet. BYOB: Bring your own binoculars, if you have them.
This year, we ask that you RSVP to let us know you are coming!
