The Bird Days of Summer: Baby Bird Walks for the Whole Fam! *FULL*
Bring the whole fam to Whitaker Ponds Natural Area for a family nature walk. We will search for ducklings and other wildlife while taking a leisurely stroll around the pond.
The best access to the park is from the entrance at 7040 NE 47 Avenue, a ¼ mile north of Columbia Blvd. TriMet bus #75 makes a stop at the corner of NE 47th Avenue and Columbia Blvd and visitors can walk north from there to the park entrance. Bike racks are located inside the entrance near the west pond.
Limited to 12 participants (Children under one year old are always free and don’t need to be registered).
Pacing: Slow, with frequent stops to view and listen for birds.
Amenities: There is one ADA accessible portapotty at the site.

Rest Stops: None, but we will move slowly

Trail Tread and Width:Trails are flat, and typically 4-6 feet wide with gravel tread. There are two wooden ramps with gentle pitch down to the pond and the slough.

Join Bird Alliance of Oregon’s Education Team for The Bird Days of Summer, a series of super beginner-friendly programs for anyone curious about birds in nature. We’re combining community-building, exploration, and fun to create safe spaces for people to get to know each other as well as the birds. Binoculars will be provided, and we’ll begin each program with a short “how-to” to help you get started.

Bird Alliance of Oregon is excited to begin offering programs on a sliding scale. This will increase access to our programs and allow people of all economic backgrounds to explore their curiosity for the natural world.
