Our Wildlife Care Center received large numbers of healthy fledgling Cooper’s Hawks at the end of June/beginning of July. The record-high temperatures (116 degrees) may have rushed them to all fledge at once, leaving many young raptors on the ground, and out in the open causing people to grow concerned.

On July 9, 2021, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife Commission will revisit the issue of whether to uplist Marbled Murrelets from threatened to endangered under the state’s Endangered Species Act. It is long past time for the Commission to take this important step to help reverse the murrelet’s decline toward extinction in Oregon.
